So what have I been up to?

General, May 11th, 2008, 4:36 pm

Well, as you know having a full time job does take at least 8 hours a day. But that’s not really much an excuse. Heh. Especially since it’s been over five months since the new year. Since then I’ve done a lot of new stuff for work that you might have seen and maybe you might not have seen.

But, don’t fret, K-Max Media has been up and running ever since albeit idle and I didn’t really have anything interesting to write until now of course. See, I’m not one of those types that will write about anything and everything.

Commuting and winter totally suck. Even if I was taking the train everyday, I do walk about 10-15 minutes from the train station to work and it’s still as cold as ever. But I’m glad Spring is here and yeah, it is time to change up the theme of the site isn’t it? Anyway, I’ve been trying several new CMS’s and have really stuck to one particular one (other than Wordpress) and the people at work are pretty cool too. Still, at some point, I have to make some time to enjoy T.O. but it’s like as soon as work is over, time to jump on the train and travel about an hour or so back home. Then you get some free time to relax and sleep and it begins again. It sorta makes me remember the good ol’ days of school where everything was in walking distance (but there’s also the super late nighters as well which makes school forgetable as well. heh)

But, anyway, the past 6 or so months I used to get into a comfort zone of sorts. Hopefully now with a new foundation, you’ll see some new things here. Stay Tuned, hopefully next post won’t take 6 months to write.

Santa is Canadian….

Personal News, December 24th, 2007, 8:30 am

Or is he? You know, he does have a Canadian Address:

Santa Claus
North Pole
H0H 0H0
CANADA

Canada Post seems to be the postal service up here providing the service. If there are other addresses for Santa in other countries, by all means, let me know. Even e-mail. Surely he has e-mail.

And he enlists one of the largest contingent of letter writing volunteers in the world to reply to the millions and millions of kids all around the world. They must be lucky, it must be super cold up there….. or is it?

Scientists have recently predicted the arctic to be completed melted within a decade. A DECADE. Most of us will still be around, but what about Santa? He LIVES up there. What happens if the north pole was to melt? Do you know how much stuff he has at his house?

Yet another reason why we would work to fix this global warming issue. Santa gives us tons of presents every Christmas ON TIME and has been perfect thus far. Let’s at least try to help him out to keep the North Pole the way it should be… nice, cold and Christmasy! I mean, it’s not like he can’t travel to Florida to enjoy a vacation.

Happy New Year everyone!

Big Pretty Muscles

The K-Box (Rants), December 4th, 2007, 7:59 pm

The past two weeks I’ve had an opportunity to proofread a paper by a friend who’s in University and studying Gender and Sport. She too has taken a great interest in the women’s side of bodybuilding and the topic that she was looking at was how female bodybuilders has the toughest time balancing out their femininity, their need to be competitive in sport and to be marketable. About a week or so ago, the National Physique Committee also known as the NPC, the IFBB’s amateur representative in the United States, held their national championships. It’s easily the biggest amateur National-Level show in the United States bringing together over 55 female bodybuilders to the stage this year.

Taking a look at the field you can easily recognize the strength these women possess and for the women that win their weight class, it represents years of hard work and preparation that cultivates into being recognized as the best in their field. Full muscles and curves are called up and flexed on stage at will in a choreographed routine to the delight of fans in the audience. As you watch on stage you can see two piece posing suits that are meant to accentuate their look on stage that combines with their skin color and tone, make up and hairstyle to show their beauty, strength and their femininity. The winners that the judges choose would represent the best look of the female bodybuilder of the day and possibly of the year.

Something that aroused my thinking is a comment made on one of the female muscle forums that I frequent where the poster mentioned that extreme conditioning and definition will not be rewarded unless the competitor was “really, really pretty”. The user then posted the overall winner who was backstage flexing her butt (or glutes) which from weeks of dieting showed extreme muscular striations and detail.

Been busy….

Personal News, November 24th, 2007, 8:19 am

Haven’t been updating the blog all that much, now that I’ve been working as a professional web developer don’t ya know. With a great company too. Check my resume if you’re that interested in knowing about my new job.

In the meantime, I’ve had technical issues the past couple days updating. But they’ve been resolved. But, depending on my schedule, I’m able to. In the meantime, how did your black Friday go? You know how much I love good deals.

Yesterday, Rogers Communications has closed the deal with CTVGlobemedia and have officially taken over the CityTV stations and websites. Even though their 24 hour Toronto News Station Cablepulse 24 is owned by CTVGlobemedia (though there is word that Rogers is interested in a stake in it), it leaves it in a bit of limbo since it continues to run most content provided by CityTV. So for now, no changes to report. But, if you check out some of City’s website, notably citynews.ca, at the bottom, where the usual copyright notice is, you will see the Rogers logo replace the CTVGlobemedia Logo. Funny enough as of the time of the post, the alt text still says CTVglobemedia.
