Michelle Laville not a pro…
An update and correction to an article we put up a few weeks ago.
Michelle Laville did not qualfity for her IFBB Pro Card due to an apparent misunderstanding of the role of the Figure Competition at the 2004 CAC Championships. When this story broke out a week or so ago, we have tried to get in touch with officials at the IFBB Caribbean and also at the headquarters in Montreal, but they have yet to get back to us.
(Update: 03/21/05, we did get in touch with IFBB Headquarters in Montreal and they referred us to IFBB Caribbean. We’re now waiting for a comment from the executives there.)
This error in communication actually propagated thoughout the local media in Antigua as well and it wasn’t known until after Ms. Laville escalated her efforts in trying to find out why she didn’t get her pro card.
You have to imagine how much of an impact this made on her efforts, but, considering how well she represented herself and her country in the fitness contests is something positive to look on in my humble opinion and definely to look forward to in her second year as a figure competitor.
We are listening out for more information and if we hear anything we will post a followup article and let you know.
