So what have I been up to?

General, May 11th, 2008, 4:36 pm

Well, as you know having a full time job does take at least 8 hours a day. But that’s not really much an excuse. Heh. Especially since it’s been over five months since the new year. Since then I’ve done a lot of new stuff for work that you might have seen and maybe you might not have seen.

But, don’t fret, K-Max Media has been up and running ever since albeit idle and I didn’t really have anything interesting to write until now of course. See, I’m not one of those types that will write about anything and everything.

Commuting and winter totally suck. Even if I was taking the train everyday, I do walk about 10-15 minutes from the train station to work and it’s still as cold as ever. But I’m glad Spring is here and yeah, it is time to change up the theme of the site isn’t it? Anyway, I’ve been trying several new CMS’s and have really stuck to one particular one (other than Wordpress) and the people at work are pretty cool too. Still, at some point, I have to make some time to enjoy T.O. but it’s like as soon as work is over, time to jump on the train and travel about an hour or so back home. Then you get some free time to relax and sleep and it begins again. It sorta makes me remember the good ol’ days of school where everything was in walking distance (but there’s also the super late nighters as well which makes school forgetable as well. heh)

But, anyway, the past 6 or so months I used to get into a comfort zone of sorts. Hopefully now with a new foundation, you’ll see some new things here. Stay Tuned, hopefully next post won’t take 6 months to write.

Yes, I’ll admit…

….I’ve been busy and unable to work on the first ground breaking post on this the fourth version of this website. But I will make an attempt to:

- Comment on the Ontario Election

- Comment on the Price is Right’s new host Drew Carey

- Comment on the Upcoming Throne Speech that will be aired as a prime time special. No doubt with drama, the action and the performance having all federal politicians as they return to work. Who wants to eat popcorn as you watch the Prime Minister’s government’s agenda is read out? I’ll have to see how the ratings end up. Oh wait, some networks might preempt your Tuesday night prime time line-up.

And other things… but for now, I’ll open up the floor to the readers. Tell me what you want me to talk about and I will talk. It’s as simple as that.

Welcome to kmaxmedia.com 4.0!

Welcome to the new kmaxmedia.com. The fourth interation of the site now dubbed “The K Marks the Media” I spent about 3 weeks and lots of hours renovating and relocating to change the site from what it was before to what I hope will become a more interactive and thoughtful site not to mention showing you all new content and new media productions that I involve myself and my so-called media empire.

On the site, you’ll notice that the site is now a blog hybrid site showing new posts on a variety of topics. Some things that I hope to explore with you are media topics, politics, sports (like Bodybuilding, hint-hint) and of course web development! You can also Kount on the K-Max for random things and stuff that may appear here and on other pages.

My personal portfolio pages has also merged to this site and can be found here.

The whole site is now proudly powered by Wordpress, a popular publishing tool. Using this, you can now search the posts and check out the archives. (Unfortunetly, no search for site pages has been implemented, but you can probably find it through Google or through the 4 tabs above).

So prepare yourself for new K-Max Media Stuff. It’s coming… oh and have a happy turkey Canadians! Happy Columbus Day for the Americans.

An interesting article I saw.

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.09/sony.html

Sort of reminded me about  when I agonized between choosing a Sega Genesis or a Super Nintendo back in the 90’s. I chose the Super Nintendo. It was the correct call.

Now asks the question:

Sony Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii? Or maybe Xbox 360?

Gaush, have I been out of the video game loop for a while. But I need a job first VIA College. More on that later. Do the reading first.

Recap: May 2005 Part 2

General, July 24th, 2005, 9:47 am

Okay, continuing my long story, the same week that I was volunteering for Anime North, K-Max Media with New Visions Video opened a brand new bodybuilding site. Northern Physique.

This was due to the popular demand for bodybuilding coverage in Ontario. As you know, I covered some of the shows since 2001 with the 2001 Natural Ontario Bodybuilding Championships in the first year of K-Max Media. From there, we continued covering shows to the extent that people thought kmaxmedia.com was a bodybuilding site. Which is isn’t if you haven’t figured it out yet. Sigh… so in 2005, I had the need to get rid of the extra muscle on the site. So in April 2005, we struct a unpresidented deal with New Visions Video to bring to bodybuilding fans Northern Physique. Wow, our first media deal. First bodybuilding then the world!! MUAHAHA!

Of course this meant some changes. We now run our own server which means we can have real streaming video and air things live if we wanted to. Which means I could run a radio show that does the same thing in the blog. And I just know how much you guys would love to hear me speak, or not speak. That is the question.

And after getting the new server, we had to get it installed, pay for it and believe me, the costs soared from what we were paying before, but we’re hanging in there. But, the benefits outweighed the costs.

And then there’s converting all of our bodybuilding content and fit it into the new Northern Physique web page templates and switching our video format to Quicktime. That probably took the most development time. Then on May 28, 2005, we opened with a ping. But the momentum grew and I’ll tell you all of that that in the June recap. But yes, finally a real bodybuilding site for Ontario and Canadian enthusiasts. It indeed was a very busy weekend for me at the end of May.

So what does this mean for kmaxmedia.com which used to cover anime fandom events and fringe events? Really, 66-70% of our traffic was from bodybuilding viewers. But, from what I saw on this blog, there appeared to STILL be anime fans listening to this site. Ugh… the decisions, the decisions. And you too still have an opportunity to influence this outcome by leaving your comments. I know you really want to. It’s simple.
